Collapsing Into the Comfort (Fear) of Intimacy

The energy of fear and the need to protect myself in my younger years became a long-standing message that created an operating system that I didn’t consciously construct. When messages are created in an effort to protect ourselves from something real, they find a spot to sit …

The Ride (and the clarity it brought me)

While riding the island, I made each pedal stroke a mantra: find peace, find peace, find peace. And about 4 miles in, it hit me. Regardless of the method that I teach/facilitate, it’s always the same message: connect to your source, open to the release of old messages, vibrate in the space of living a courageous, honest life.

It's Up To You, New York

I believe that we all need to allow ourselves the opportunity to move through spaces that haven’t yet experienced our footprints. Noticing our emotions, the ways in which we get our bearings, and finding the spots that still feel itchy and full of wires, are really the best ways to discover our hidden parts.

This is Not the Story of a Rape

We had been invited to this local fraternity party where all the boys were loud and muscular with perfect everything. Collars popped, bodies still tan from summer, and big egos that seemed like endless confidence. We all took turns sipping from wine coolers that someone had given us, but we only had a few because no one had fake ID. We smoked our Virginia Slims and Marlboros.

Some Like It Hot

As we went through the flow, I found myself feeling my muscles, seeing the beads of sweat start to appear on my extended arms. It felt good. Deeper into the class, as we went into a downward facing dog, a drop of sweat landed on my mat. My sweat, my work. Detoxifying my body, clearing space in my mind. Each asana more beautiful than the next.

No Shame

Immediately, I felt ashamed. I was not dependent on Xanax and “booze” (that word). And I hopped all over Facebook, asking people to read and share, despite (or in spite of) the new title… I was not an addict. Not ever. Right?

Breathwork Circles for You

Holding space is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. When I hold space for someone, or for a group of people, I respect that I am making the space safe, keeping it grounded, and leading the breathers into a place where they feel safe to release, feel and heal.

From Seed to Sip: The Magic of Coffee

Creating today’s guided coffee meditation was such a point of pride for me, because I believe in all the components of the process. Green buying, building strong relationships, and having respect for everyone involved is something for which we should be grateful.

Balance

It wasn’t until just this week, as I began to reflect on what went wrong (and where the extra 12 or so pounds came from… even looking back at spring and summer photos to see where it all shifted), that I realized what had happened and it all made sense. I’d given myself away.

Intention vs. Vibration

INTENTION. It’s the new buzz word. And the truth is, we can say, speak, and write about our intentions, but often, we are not aligned with them. When we intend for something to be, we need to vibrate in the energy as if it were already happening. But we don’t. Instead, we come from a place of lack, with the intention of living in a state of abundance.

Making Space

My self-care game is getting stronger, and with that comes this voice that’s saying “Psst, you’re doing too much.” My breathwork teacher, David Elliott, say “Where attention goes, energy flows.” There couldn’t be a truer statement. My attention cannot be in so many places at once. I have made the choice to do less, and do it with more intention.

California On Fire

California was on fire, and there I was raising my vibration, which felt transformative to me. I connected to the earth so much more, knowing that a part of her was on fire. I connected to the pain that happens when life burns, when homes and their contents ( photographs, ,momentos, etc ) are destroyed, and trees that have existed longer than I have turn to ash.

Do You Have A Yoga Body?

We are bombarded with photos of beautiful, young, fit yoga people doing difficult poses. It makes us believe that we have to have a certain body type to do, or to teach, yoga. I believed it, and it was such a huge block. The idea of my body, or lack-of-lean-yoga-body, literally kept me from stepping onto my mat for years. I still struggle with it, to this day, even though I know that a yoga body doesn’t exist.

Energy Matches (and Misses)

Sometimes, you need to get hit over the head with the same lesson, time and time again, until the bump gets too tender to be ignored. And this last whack was a real eye-opener. I’m done. Lesson actually, truthfully learned.

A Beautiful Breathwork Testimonial

There is a great power within ourselves to heal, and our breath is its engine. As my steady breathing picked up steam, the repetitive inhale and exhale dance literally felt like my breath moved in harmony with the cells in my body... I began to feel tingling, circulating sensations throughout my body, swirling through, filling me with warmth. I was letting go.
