Reiki is...
Reading an old love letter and feeling that love once again, connecting to someone who has passed on and hearing their laughter, dreaming of what lies ahead and feeling excited. That’s how the energy of Reiki works for me.
Someone just asked, and I wanted to explain it simply. I thought the explanation might be good to have here, for you to read, too
Reiki is a form of energy healing. We all have an energy field. Think about sitting in a room and then feeling someone walk in, or meeting someone and immediately getting a bad feeling, or a good one, and how that can shift your energy. We can pick up other people's energy, right? Reiki is similar. I
tap into the energy of love and healing, and in a prayer of invocation, call on the ascendant masters, in gratitude and for guidance, opening the Reiki. I guide the receiver through a gentle meditation to soften both the body and the mind, walking them into a state of rest.
While Reiki has been experienced primarily as hands on healing -since it's an energetic practice, not a massage - it can be done as distance healing. Touching is not required, which is so wonderful in times like now where it isn't as accessible.
I walk them though a meditation, talking about what parts of the body can relax and receive, while music is playing.
Reiki allows the body and mind to shift into a deeper state of rest and awareness, allowing the nervous system to settle down, the thoughts to soften, and more. Often times, people process or release emotions in a very gentle way, they experience old memories, feel connected to loved ones (even loved ones who have passed, etc.)
Reiki can be done virtually or in person, and can be sent now, for a later time. Reiki transcends time and space. Think of writing a love letter to someone and mailing it. They feel the love when they receive it, and every time they read it, whenever that is. That’s how Reiki works for me.
