Love + Reiki
What is Reiki and what’s love got to do with it?
I received my Reiki Master Teacher attunement this weekend. Since my first attunement I’ve been bathing in Reiki and knew that I someday wanted to teach it, mostly because of the things that I’d learned.
Before finding my teacher, I received so much conflicting information that I didn’t know what to believe. I chose my teacher, Carol Anne Patterson, because she lives and operates from a heart-centered space. I felt safe with her, and I felt seen.
Reiki can be defined in many ways. It clears and balances our energetic bodies, aligning and unblocking the chakras. There are probably a million definitions and, I believe, all of them would be true for someone.
Why? My two cents here.
We each have our own version of what’s true. We show and receive love in our own way. Similarly, our Reiki experience is uniquely our own. And that’s why choosing the practitioner or teacher that’s right for you is very important.
When receiving Reiki, you are receiving through the vessel of the practitioner. How are they holding space for you? Is their intention that of love? Are they zipping up their energy to shield themselves or are they being open and bathed in light? How do you feel when you’re around them?
The experience of becoming a Reiki practitioner is so much more than getting certificates or attunements. It’s a spiritual journey. That’s why it’s imperative to choose your teacher wisely, not out of convenience or best dates.
Now, back to love. I was taught by Carol Anne that all emotions/reactions stem from love or from fear. Fear is a low vibrational energy. When we begin the Reiki journey, we want to be in the healing space, in the true high vibrational space of love and of light.
We are all human, and we feel things deeply. All emotions are welcome, and the goal to feel grounded and at ease, right? We start the path to inner peace by beginning with love.
Come. Take the journey with me.
